The Philippines Department of National Defense (DND) is considering the full termination of a contract with a US supplier over its provision of 21 refurbished UH-1 Huey utility helicopters, the DND's spokesman Peter Paul G Galvez told IHS Jane's on 14 April.

In late March the DND issued a notice to "partially terminate" its PHP1.263 billion (USD28 million) contract with US joint venture (JV) between Rice Aircraft Services and Eagle Copters over what the DND said was the late delivery of the helicopters. The DND said it had called on the supplier to submit within seven days a letter stating why the contract, which was signed in late 2013, should not be terminated.
