Senior officials from the Vietnam Ministry of Defence (MoD) and Boeing met on 2 April to discuss potential defence trade, the MoD has announced.
The meeting in Hanoi was chaired by Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, Vietnam's deputy minister of defence, and Marc Allen, president of Boeing International, an arm of the US corporation tasked with growing overseas business.
According to the MoD, Vietnam has expressed interest in acquiring from Boeing unspecified "amphibious products". The MoD said that Lt Gen Chi Vinh requested Boeing's assistance to "introduce amphibious products to Vietnam's military units and non-military enterprises".
The MoD added that Boeing had affirmed that the company will "accelerate the expansion of its co-operation with Vietnam".
