Denhanud 473 Paskhas Melaksanakan Site Integration Test Skyshield MK-2

Komandan Detasemen Hanud 473 Paskhas, Mayor Pas Anang Baskoro, S.Pd. beserta 1 Perwira dan 5 anggota dengan tim dari Mabes AU dan Kemhan RI yang dipimpin oleh Kolonel Tek Agus Rudi Supriadi baru-baru ini melaksanakan Site Integration Test (SIT) di Skatek 21 Lanud Halim Perdana Kusuma.

Kegiatan dilaksanakan dalam rangka penerimaan Alutsista PSU Oerlikon Skyshield MK-2 yang bertujuan untuk melaksanakan pemeriksaan ulang seluruh fungsi Oerlikon Skyshield Firing Unit System setelah proses pengiriman melalui kapal laut dari Jerman menuju Indonesia dan tindak lanjut dari Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) yang dilaksanakan di Perusahaan Rheinmetall Switzerland bulan Mei lalu.

Keterlibatan anggota Denhanud 473 Paskhas disamping membantu tim dari Mabes AU dan Kemhan RI, bertujuan untuk me-refresh kemampuan prajurit Denhanud 473 Paskhas untuk mengawaki Alutsista yang sebelumnya telah melaksanakan pelatihan-pelatihan baik di dalam maupun luar negeri.

Dalam kesempatan itu, Dandenhanud 473 Paskhas menekankan kepada anggotanya agar melaksanakan SIT dengan serius, teliti dan cermat terhadap keseluruhan item-item yang diterima, mengingat Alutsista tersebut akan segera dioperasikan di Lanud Supadio.

Seusai pelaksanaan SIT selanjutnya Alutsista PSU Oerlikon Skyshield MK-2 akan segera dikirimkan ke Markas Detasemen Hanud 473 di Lanud Supadio, Pontianak, Kalimantan Barat.

DND Denies Report of Canceling Missile Deal with Israel

THE PHILIPPINES’ Department of National Defense (DND) has denied a newspaper report which alleged that its top officials scrapped a government-to-government missile deal with Israel in place of buying individual gear for soldiers to receive kickbacks from the procurement project.

On Tuesday, the DND issued a statement explaining why the Shore Based Missile System (SBMS), a military asset initially included in the military’s to-buy list in the modernization program of Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), was dropped.

“The SBMS project is merely a proposal at this time, and as such, there is no ‘realignment’ but rather a reprioritization of the said project in favor of the urgent need of our PA (Philippine Army) troops for individual force protection equipment,” the DND said in a released statement on Tuesday afternoon.

“The reprioritization was a collective decision by Defense senior leaders, which was submitted to the President after going through the required processes in the Defense System of Management (DSOM), which took into consideration the dynamics of the country’s ever developing security environment,” the DND further said.

The department was prompted to issue the statement after reports said that the deal was dropped so that top defense officials could earn from commissions.

The news articles cited unnamed sources saying that there were no commissions to be made from the missile deal since it was an agreement between two governments.


The P6.5-billion funding for the missile system supposed to be for the military will now be used to buy helmets, body armor, night-vision goggles and other equipment used by Philippine Army soldiers

Myanmar Menerima Batch Pertama Rudal SAM HQ-12/KS-1A

Myanmar telah menerima batch pertama dari sistem pertahanan udara HQ-12/KS-1A. Batch pertama ini terdiri dari 4 mobil peluncur rudal yang masing-masing dapat membawa sepasang rudal pertahanan udara jarak menengah ini.

Angkatan Bersenjata Myanmar telah menanda-tangani kontrak pembelian 4 sistem (terdiri dari 24 kendaraan peluncur sepasang rudal) sistem pertahanan udara KaiShan 1A (KS-1A), varian ekspor dari HongQi 12 (HQ-12). 

Dengan kedatangan sistem rudal tersebut, Myanmar menjadi negara pertama di luar China yang menggunakan KS-1A. Rudal ini dapat menjangkau sasaran udara pada jarak 50 km dan ketinggian 27 km.

Kanwa Defense Review menyebutkan bahwa Myanmar akan menggunakan sistem rudal KS-1A ini untuk melindungi ibukota Naypyidaw dari serangan udara. 

Kanwa Defense Review juga menyebutkan bahwa Malaysia awalnya berencana untuk membeli KS-1A dari China pada tahun 2000-an, namun kemudian urung dilakukan setelah KS-1A tidak mampu bersaing dengan sistem rudal SA-11 Buk dari Rusia,

Vietnam Successfully Upgrades Russian-Made Air Defense Missile System

The Air Defense-Air Force of Vietnam has successfully upgraded the Russian-made air defense missile system S-125-2TM Pechora after a recent test launch in Hanoi, government website chinhphu.vn reported.

The Air Defense-Air Force is a service which assumes the responsibilities of both national air defense and air forces, according to the Ministry of Defense.

It is the core force responsible for the control and defense of airspace, protection of the nation’s key facilities and the people, and participates in safeguarding the homeland’s seas and islands.

The Air Defense-Air Force, in cooperation with foreign experts, last Thursday held a test launch for three upgraded S-125-2TM Pechora systems, part of the second phase of a scheme to upgrade the medium-range Pechora air defense missile for the service.

The test launch was witnessed by many senior military officials, including Colonel General Luong Cuong, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission, and Vice Chairman of the General Political Department; and Lieutenant-General Phuong Minh Hoa, member of the Party Central Committee and Commander of the Air Defense-Air Force.

After receiving a command, the three air defense missile systems destroyed their targets with their first round of fire, ensuring the absolute safety of people and equipment.
This version of the S-125-2TM Pechora system is an upgrade package of the short-to-medium-range air defense missiles.

Compared to the previous model, the S-125-2TM air defense missile system now takes much less time to deploy and to fully recover after each launch, and it has robust interference resistance, a high probability of killing its target, including cruise missiles, according to the Air Defense-Air Force.

The fire control system was also upgraded to become more powerful. The system now has the ability to fire two missiles to lock on and hit two targets with very small radar reflector areas simultaneously, said the Air Defense-Air Force.

The S-125-2TM Pechora, also known as the Pechora-2TM, is an upgraded version of the S-125 / Pechora air defense missile system that can destroy advanced, small aerial attack platforms flying at low altitudes.

The system can also be deployed against ground and water-surface targets that are visible to radar, according to airforce-technology.com.

The missile system, equipped with a GPS navigation platform, is capable of engaging targets in severe jamming environments and can operate independently or be integrated into an air defense grouping.

China Provides Army Vehicles to Cambodia

KAMPONG SPEU, Cambodia - China delivered army vehicles and spare parts to Cambodia on Saturday for a training program in auto-repair class at the Infantry Institute, officials said.

The grant aid included 44 different-type military vehicles, 20 elevators, 4 kitchen trailers, spare parts, and materials for an automotive workshop, said Chao Phirun, director of the Cambodian Defense Ministry's technical materials and logistics.

The handover ceremony was held at the Infantry Institute in west Cambodia's Kampong Speu province between Chinese Ambassador Bu Jianguo and Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Tea Banh.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Bu said China and Cambodia are good neighbors, friends, brothers and partners, and the aid was to assist Cambodia in human resources development.

"I believe that these vehicles and materials will help strengthen training capacity for Cambodian military personnel," she said.

Tea Banh said the assistance truly reflected China's willingness to building human resources for the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces.

"These equipment and materials are very necessary to use for training Cambodian cadets," he said.
